Mythbuster: the longer you condition your hair, the better
How many hours out of your wash day is spent conditioning? I used to start with an overnight pre treatment then shampoo and leave in my conditioner while I did chores...and sometimes even a day or two because I got lazy. Sound familiar? How long is too long or not long enough? Most conditioners just focus on the surface of your hair and take seconds/minutes to work. Other go a little deeper and can be helped by heat/steam. Generally after 30mins (even with heat) there will be no added benefit of keep the conditioner on. I have seen things like baggying and greenhousing but those are posts for another day. Leaving conditioner on for a few hours shouldn’t harm your hair but just be careful as wet hair can easily be damaged. I’m sure someone will mention hygral fatigue, I haven’t come across it in person
